What To Expect

Agra
Your full-day tour begins with an 8am pickup from your hotel or Agra Cantt Railway Station (AGC).  Meet your guide, board your private AC Toyota car.

Taj Mahal
First we visit the magnificent Taj Mahal (Closed on Fridays), a UNESCO World Heritage Site one of the Seven Wonders of the World and surely the most extravagant expression of love ever created. 20,000 men labored for over 17 years to build this memorial to Shah Jahan's beloved wife. It's a wealth of white marble and semi-precious stone – « undoubtedly the highlight of the tour ».

Agra Fort
Afterward, visit the Imposing Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built by Emperor Akbar in 1565 A.D, this huge fort is made of red sandstone. The elegant buildings inside reflect an interesting synthesis of Hindu and Central Asian architectural styles. The maze of the courtyards, mosques, and private chambers of the fort echo the story of the Mughal Empire.

Fatehpur Sikri
At 2:30pm after lunch we begin the 1-hour drive to Fatehpur Sikri, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Described as 'the world’s most perfectly preserved ghost town, it was built by Akbar in the late 16th century, and abandoned after only 14 years. The elegant buildings of this superb walled city remain intact to this day.

Sanskriti's Imperial Gems
In the early evening, take some time to  to enjoy shopping in Agra, which is known for its fabulous handcrafts made of marble and soft stone inlay work. The Mughals were great patrons of arts and crafts. Empress Nur Jahan took a personal interest and was an accomplished artist herself in zari embroidery work. Agra's major handicraft products besides inlay work are leather ware, brass ware, carpets, jewelry, and embroidery work.
